Anesthesia Error

Anesthesia error occurs many times each year, and can result in serious medical injuries or even death. An anesthesiologist must completely review a patient's medical charts before administering the medication to ensure that there will be no interactions with drugs the patient may already be taking. The anesthesiologist must also pay close attention to what the patient is allergic to. If the wrong medication or a wrong amount of medication is given, it is considered an anesthesia error, and could cost a patient his or her life. The physician performing the procedure must also pay close attention to the patient and note any changes which may signal complications. Not doing so is neglectful.
