Psychiatric Malpractice

While Psychiatric malpractice, to many, doesn't sound as dangerous as surgical malpractice or some other physical malpractice, it can be just as harmful and can injure patients just as much. Psychiatric malpractice is any neglect or action which has the potential to harm or injure a patient. A good example of psychiatric malpractice is a psychiatrist who sees a patient every few weeks for just a few minutes at a time. He or she doesn't pay close enough attention to the client to know that the client is developing tardive dyskinesia until the condition is severe and disfiguring. BEcause the psychiatrist failed to see and recognize the symptoms in time for treatment, he or she may have been neglectful of the patient - and committed medical malpractice. Each case is different and individuals who think they may be victims should speak to an attorney right away.
