Media Accuses Oprah of Medical Malpractice

Recently, Newsweek magazine published an article about Oprah Winfrey’s television show and her endorsement of several medical treatments, which have not been approved by the FDA or are natural or holistic healthcare approaches. Because of her vast influence on her television audience, she has been criticized for posing as a doctor and doling out medical advice with no degree.

Several bloggers and media outlets have called for her to be sued for medical malpractice, because she endorses some “home remedies” which can even be dangerous if not used properly. However, alternative and holistic medical practices have become more and more accepted by mainstream medical experts, an individual should always consult a doctor before beginning any sort of treatment- even one that does not involve any prescription drugs.

Oprah has been faulted with muddling in medical advice about which she has not been educated and has no professional experience. The Newsweek article has given many the courage to speak out about the media mogul’s negative influence.
